On home turf Sainik School Nagrota crowned overall champion

Sainik School Nagrota emerged as the Overall Champion of the All India Sainik Schools National Games (AISSNG) 2026 – Group ‘A’, as the five-day sporting extravaganza concluded today at the school with a grand closing ceremony.

The ceremony was graced by Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli, VSM, ADG, NCC J&K and Ladakh Directorate, as the Chief Guest. It commenced with an impressive March Past by the participating contingents, followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony honouring outstanding teams and athletes.

Sainik School Nagrota put up an impressive all-round performance, securing first position in Junior Boys Basketball, Junior Boys Volleyball, Junior Girls Basketball and English Debate, besides performing strongly in athletics and other events. Royal International Residential School (RIRS), Fatehabad secured the Runners-up position, while Sainik School Kunjpura finished third.

Addressing the participants, Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli, VSM, congratulated the winners and commended all participating schools for their dedication, discipline and sporting spirit. He highlighted the vital role of sports in building teamwork, resilience, leadership and character among young cadets.

Capt (IN) Shibu Devasia, Principal, Sainik School Nagrota, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest and acknowledged the valuable support of all officials of Directorate of Youth & Sports and also the participating schools for the successful conduct of the championship.

A special highlight of the Games was the warm contribution of the Sainik School Nagrota Ladies’ Club. Their colourful food stall, offering an array of lovingly prepared homemade delicacies, brought a comforting taste of home to the cadets and added warmth, colour and camaraderie to the celebrations.

The championship provided a vibrant platform for young athletes to compete, learn and forge lasting bonds of friendship. The spirit of discipline, teamwork, resilience and healthy competition remained at the heart of the Games. The event concluded with High Tea and Bara Khana for the participating contingents, officials and staff.

With a championship title on home ground, Sainik School Nagrota has once again shown that excellence is not merely a destination—it is a habit built through discipline, teamwork and determination.
