Ticket checking staff returns passenger’s bag
Jammu, September 6;
The ticket checking staff of Jammu Division in Northern Railway once again demonstrated their dedication and honesty by safely returning a passenger’s handbag left behind in a train, performing a commendable act.
As per the incident, on 5th September, while on duty in Train No. 22478 (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to New Delhi), the ticket checking staff Shri Kamalkant was informed by passengers of C-8 coach about an unclaimed handbag lying in the coach. Taking prompt cognizance of the matter, the ticket checking staff searched the bag in the presence of Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel. During the search, an Army Identity Card, Rs. 5,900 in cash, 2 mobile phones and other important documents were recovered from the bag. Thereafter, the checking staff immediately contacted the family on the mobile number found in the documents in the bag and informed the passenger that the bag was safe.
After further verification and completion of paperwork, the bag was safely handed over to the passenger, which included Rs. 5900 cash, two mobile phones and important documents.
On getting his bag back, the passenger expressed heartfelt gratitude to Indian Railways and the ticket checking staff.

The prompt and transparent action taken by the checking staff and our security personnel reflects the high moral values of our division.
