I am in touch with Centre over statehood; CM Omar

𝑺𝑹𝑰𝑵𝑨𝑮𝑨𝑹, 𝑺𝒆𝒑𝒕 7: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said he remains in constant touch with Union Home Minister Amit Shah over several issues concerning the Union Territory, including the restoration of statehood and the framing of business rules.

Speaking to reporters, Omar said there were several matters requiring discussion between the J&K administration and the Centre.

“Be it about statehood or business rules, I keep in touch with the Home Minister,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the J&K Cabinet’s response on the reservation issue has been prepared but has not yet been forwarded to the Centre.

He also pointed out that the post of Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir has remained vacant for nearly two years, describing it as another issue that required attention.

“There were many issues that I raised before the Home Minister,” Omar said.

Omar had recently met Amit Shah in New Delhi, where the two discussed various matters concerning Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid continued discussions between the J&K Government and the Centre over statehood and other pending administrative and constitutional issues.
