Boy, girl jump into canal in Kangan, searches launched

A search operation was launched in the Thune area of Kangan in Ganderbal district after a boy and a girl were reportedly seen entering a power canal, officials said.

The boy has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Kahi, son of Mohammad Sharif Kahi, a resident of Thune, while the identity of the girl has been withheld.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, Kangan Police, personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and a local rescue team launched a coordinated search operation in and around the power canal.

Rescue teams are continuing efforts to trace the two individuals, while police are also working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
