J&K Dy CM’s escort vehicle kills labourer

JAMMU, Aug 9; A labourer was killed after being hit by an escort vehicle belonging to the convoy of Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary in the Satwari area of Jammu district late on Saturday night, officials said.

The accident took place near Royal Furniture Showroom in the Satwari area, they said.

According to officials, the vehicle (JK01AD-2158) was part of the convoy returning after dropping the Deputy Chief Minister at his residence in Kunjwani when it hit the man.

The escort vehicle was being driven rashly.

The victim was identified as Bharat Kapas S/o Faquir Kapas of Bihar, at present Model Town Gangyal. He was shifted to a hospital following the accident but succumbed to his injuries.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and started an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
