School headmaster rapes & impregnates 14 year old in Kishtwar, who dies during illegal termination of pregnancy

Kishtwar, August 21:

Massive protests rocked Kishtwar district on Friday after a 14 year old school girl was repeatedly raped by a government school headmaster, who impregnated her and the girl died during illegal termination of her pregnancy in Chatroo sub division.

The accused headmaster has been identified as Khalid Hussain of Gurinall in Chatroo. He was posted at government middle school in Chatroo. The girl, a class 5 student, had been raped on several occasions by the school headmaster, aged 42 and who is father of three daughters and a son, said a police officer.

He further said that repeated sexual assaults on the minor caused pregnancy to her.

“The school headmaster on Thursday tried to eliminate the pregnancy with the help of his brother Tariq Hussain. They forcibily administered some medicines to the girl that deteriorated her condition. The girl was taken to Kishtwar hospital and then to Doda hospital before an amublance was hired to shift the girl to Punjab for terminiation of her pregnancy,” said the police officer.

Howeer, the girl died on way to Punjab.

As the news spread like wildfire, people in Chatroo and Kishtwar took to streets and demanded that the teacher be hanged publicly. The girl belonged to a poor family from Gujjar community.

Police have arrested the teacher and his brother under various sections of POCSO Act and BNS. The accused teacher has also been placed under suspension with immediate effect.
