Rajouri, August 28;

Alert Indian army troops have foiled an intrusion bid by suspected Pakistani terrorists and also opened fire at Pakistani drones along the Line of Control (LoC)n Nowshera sector of Rajouri district during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, said officials.

The Army thwarted suspected Pakistani drone intrusion along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri late Thursday, said an army officer.

Three drones reportedly breached Indian airspace near Rumlidhara, triggering an immediate counter-drone response by the Army, he said and added that troops on the ground opened small arms fire at the UAVs.

The drones were effectively challenged and forced to retreat across the LoC.

The incident highlights the heightened security alert along the LoC, with Indian troops maintaining round-the-clock vigilance against aerial threats and possible attempts at infiltration or surveillance.

In the adjoining Hathi Matha area, suspected terrorists tried to infiltrate into Indian territory during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday but the alert troops effectively foiled the attempt.

“The suspected Pakistani terrorists fled back to PoJK. A search operation was launched in the area this morning but nothing incriminating has so far been recovered,” he said.

Pakistan largely uses drones to drop weapkns and narcotics across the LoC in Indian territory for its agents to foment terrorism in J&K.
