GMC Jammu secures 105th rank in IIRF 2026 rankings

JAMMU

Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu has added another milestone to its illustrious journey by securing the 105th rank at the national level, second in J&K and 33rd in the North Zone in the International Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2026 rankings amongst 823 medical colleges, said officials.

“The institution has achieved an overall weighted index score of 804.25 out of 1000. The institution recorded an impressive performance across all evaluation parameters, securing 133.50 marks in teaching, learning resources and pedagogy, 134.45 in research outcome, 138.58 in innovative medical infrastructure, 135 in social inclusion, 129 in future orientation, and 125 in external perception. The performance reflects the institution’s sustained focus on academic excellence, research, innovation, inclusive growth and quality healthcare delivery,” said GMC Jammu principal and dean, Dr Ashutosh Gupta.

The achievement has been attributed to the dedicated efforts of the faculty of Government Medical College Jammu, whose strategic initiatives have significantly strengthened the institution’s academic, research and healthcare ecosystem, he added.

Dr. Sindhu Shanna, senior faculty member from the Department of Pathology, was instrumental in coordinating with all faculty members, collecting relevant data and submitting it on the IIRF portal.

GMC Jammu principal and dean expressed satisfaction over the recognition and congratulated the faculty members, resident doctors, students, nursing officers, paramedical staff and all employees of the institution for their unwavering commitment and collective efforts.

He said the achievement was the result of teamwork, dedication and a shared vision of excellence in medical education, research and patient care. He reiterated that Government Medical College Jammu remains committed to continuously improving the quality of medical education, expanding research activities, strengthening patient-centric healthcare services and creating state-of-the-art infrastructure in accordance with national and international standards.
