Drug addict trespasses into CM’s residence in Jammu
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 7:
A drug addict from Reasi district’s Kakriyal area last week trespassed into the official residence of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the Wazarat Road here.
Officials said the drug addict, who was apprehended by Gujjar Nagar Police on Thursday in an inebbrialrated condition, was let off on bail the next day.
When he trespassed into CM residence, he was no more in police custod, a senior police officer said.
Identifying the drug addict as Tilak Raj of kakryal in Reasi district, officials said that he was apprehended by the personnel of the Special Security Group (SSG) deployed inside CM residence .
After initial questioning, the boy was handed him over to the Gujjar Nagar police post for further interrogation.
Senior police officials, however, said that the boy was no longer in the custody of police when he trespassed into the CM’s house as he had already been bailed out in the FIR registered against him.
Giving details, officials said that the boy was booked him under Sections 8/27 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act, which deals with the illegal possession and personal consumption of banned drugs.
As it was a bailable offence, he was released on bail following submission of a bail bond by his father before Friday evening.
However, before they could leave the police post premises, the incharge police post asked Tilak Raj’s father to bring any local person known to him for surety that the boy will visit the police post whenever called by police, officials said.
When father went to bring one of his local contacts, the boy who had already been released on bail, suddenly climbed the hillock in front of the police post and entered the CM’s official residence after scaling its backwall.
His movement was soon detected by SSG personnel there who apprehended him and after questioning handed him over to the Gujjar Nagar police post.
Officials said that he was booked on charges of trespass and later released on bail since this offence also happened to be bailable.
