Jammu, September 14;
For the first time in the history of Jammu Division, loading of cement has been successfully accomplished within the Division.

This is a significant achievement for Jammu Division, marking the beginning of a new chapter in internal freight traffic by transporting cement from one of its own stations to another.

With the relentless efforts of the Business Development Unit (BDU) of the Division, the first consignment of cement was dispatched from Shaheed Captain Sunil Kumar Choudhary Kathua Railway Station to Anantnag Goods Shed on 14th September 2026.

In this consignment, approximately 66 tonnes of cement, comprising about 1320 bags, has been loaded in 01 BCN wagon. This consignment has been booked by M/s Ganpati Cement, Kathua.

This is the first time that Jammu Division has internally moved a new traffic like cement within its own Division; earlier, such material was sent to the Valley by road.

This success is a major booster for the Business Development Unit (BDU) of Jammu Division. This new O-D pair will ensure economical, safe and fast supply of construction material in the Kashmir Valley, which will increase the freight revenue of the Railways and promote eco-friendly transportation.

On this occasion, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said, “A new milestone has been established in the field of rail freight transportation in Jammu & Kashmir.

Earlier, cement was received only as inward traffic at major rail complexes like Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan Station, Kathua and Anantnag. As a result of the continuous efforts and robust logistics of Jammu Division, for the first time, outward loading of cement has been successfully started from here.

This unprecedented beginning clearly shows that the industrial fraternity of Jammu & Kashmir is reposing deep faith in Indian Railways and the local industry is now actively connecting with the rail network to give new momentum to the economic development of the region.”

He further added that in the coming time, Jammu Division endeavours to connect more traders and organizations with the Railways under this policy, so that Railways can be made a more economical, reliable and eco-friendly transportation option for the traders.
